Turn a Round Garden Building into a ’Santa’s Grotto’

A round garden building can certainly have a magical feel. And adding one in your garden can really help keep magic alive for your kids. Kids will benefit from any garden building, but a round one can be particularly special. They will love using one as a hideout or a den throughout the year. But in the run-up to Christmas, there is one more way that a round garden building could be used to enchant your kids – you could make it into a ‘Santa’s Grotto’ for the full Christmassy experience.

And even if you do not have kids, a round garden building can help you to create a winter wonderland vibe and keep the magic of Christmas alive, whether you are spending time alone or with your loved ones this year.

Why Make a Santa’s Grotto For the Kids This Christmas?

It is unlikely that you will be able to take kids to a Santa’s Grotto at a shopping centre or other public venue this year. And it is highly unlikely that you will be jetting off to Lapland any time soon. But that does not mean that you cannot make Christmas magical for your younger children. And you could still make it possible for them to ‘meet Santa’ this year.

A round garden building positioned somewhere on your property could be the ideal venue to make this happen. It could really raise the game when it comes to outdoor decorations for your home and could be decorated in a whole range of interesting ways to make it feel really special for the festive season.

You can use a range of eco-friendly Christmas decoration ideas to turn your wooden garden building into a grotto fit for Father Christmas. For example, you could:

  • Use some natural sheep’s wool or upcycle some paper to make a blanket of ‘snow’ on the roof.
  • Create garlands of ivy, conifer branches and evergreens with red berries.
  • Make a Christmas wreath to hang on the door.
  • Make some stockings using old clothes or other reclaimed fabrics.
  • Make mosaics with reclaimed glass or some traditional paper snowflakes to hang in the windows.

And those are just a few of the simple ideas to consider.

Once you’ve decorated the grotto, perhaps ‘Santa’ will come for a visit and bring some gifts in the run-up to Christmas?

How A Round Garden Building Could be Perfect For a Winter Wonderland Vibe

Even if you do not have young children, a round garden building could still be perfect to create a cozy, winter-wonderland vibe. Again, you could decorate the space with a range of natural or reclaimed materials to make a yule-tide haven where you can escape from the stresses and strains of the modern world.

A round garden building could be a place to wrap presents away from prying eyes. It could be a place to put a wood stove and snuggle up on a cold winter’s evening to enjoy some music or read a good book. It could be a place to enjoy a glass of mulled wine and some mince pies, or a glass of egg nog and some Christmas gingerbread cookies… It could be a place to sit snuggled up in a comfy chair looking out at the winter weather outside.

If you do get a white Christmas this year, a round garden building could give you the perfect place from which to enjoy the pristine white blanket over your garden. And even if the weather is not crisp and snowy, you could still enjoy watching the robin red-breasts and other winter wildlife in your garden from your cozy winter haven.
