Celebrate Earth Day With An Eco-friendly Round Garden Building

Earth Day, celebrated on April 22nd each year, is a day to show our support for environmental protection. This year, the theme for Earth Day 2023 is ‘invest in our planet’. We can invest in our planet in many different literal and metaphorical ways. But the way in which we as individuals interact with our Earth often begins in our gardens. Investing in an eco-friendly round garden building could be a great idea – not just for a single day but throughout the year, and over the years to come – helping us to embrace a more eco-friendly and sustainable way of life.

Why Our Round Garden Buildings are an Eco-friendly Choice

These structures are constructed from natural, sustainable materials, and can reduce energy use over their lifetimes. They also use fewer resources to build than square structures. And their high quality means that they will last and endure.

Round garden buildings can also potentially be used in a wide range of ways that allow us to live in a more sustainable and eco-friendly way and use our gardens to the fullest to enable a more ethical way of life.

Actions Speak Louder than Words This Earth Day

Earth Day is about bringing environmental movement to the fore. But actions always speak louder than words so rather than just talking about what is wrong and how we can all do better, we should all think right now about small changes that we can make in our lives to live better and to bring on the fairer future that we all want to see.

Creating a sustainable overhaul plan for our gardens can help us use the space we have to tackle some of the global and local challenges we face.

We can integrate a round garden building into the sustainable garden and home systems around it. For example, we can:

  • Generate renewable energy with roof-mounted solar panels etc.
  • Catch and utilise rainwater from the roof of your round garden building, and direct it to permaculture features such as swales, rain gardens, wicking beds etc. around your property.
  • Use the round garden building as a framework to grow a wide range of climbing plants/ edible crops to produce a yield.
  • Think about using the shade/ shelter provided by a new round garden building to create the right environment to grow a wider range of plants.
  • Use a round garden building to make your life easier as a sustainable and eco-friendly gardener. (Not only as a place for rest and recreation but also potentially as a place to sow, pot up plants etc.

Continuing Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Action Throughout the Year

A round garden building can also be a place where we can think about our actions throughout the whole of the year and act with environmental awareness not just on Earth Day but every day.

In a round garden building, we can:

  • Grow sustainably (Producing at least some of your own food, year-round – even during the coldest months. And also growing other resources for yourself and your family, such as medicinal plants/ herbal remedies, plants for natural cleaning and beauty products etc..)
  • Repair, Reuse & Recycle. We can make use of old items and materials to reduce your reliance on damaging systems and prevent waste and a round garden building is a perfect place to do so. A round garden building can become a workshop or studio for art, crafting, repair etc…
  • Work from home, either for a sustainable company or by taking an entrepreneurial attitude and setting up your own sustainable and eco-friendly business.

These are, of course, just a few of the ways that a round garden building might not only be an eco-friendly choice in the first place but also help us to live a more eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle long term.
